Pedagogy of Compassion and Cooperation

Simple discipline-agnostic teaching techniques which promote equal participation in classroom interactions and raise students’ academic confidence:

  • Check-ins (names, some low-risk information)
  • Think-Write-Read (in a pair)
  • Mix-Pair-Share (speak to some unfamiliar, then grow the conversation)
  • Word Round (3s or 4s)
  • Jigsaw (3s or 4s – describe what you read)
