Quizzes are a tool which can be used within Brightspace in order to help evaluate your students’ learning progress. It enables you to create and manage points-measured assessments which can be used for formative and summative assessments but also on an ad hoc basis within regular teaching weeks.
How to Create a Quiz
Quizzes contain a series of questions of varying question types which students can answer in order to test their understanding.
The guides below go through the creation of a quiz.
Question Library
The questions can also be created within the Question Library and then added to the Quiz.
This is the recommended best practice as it creates a question bank which can be used in other quizzes, self-assessments and surveys.
Go through the guides below for more information on the Question Library.

Question Types
There are various different types of questions which can be used within quizzes, each invoking different levels of interaction.
The questions used within the quiz can be created within the quiz setup.
Follow the links below for more information on each question type.
Randomising
It is also possible to have a quiz setup so that it is different for each student on every attempt. This can be achieved in two ways:
- Using the Question Pool function within the Quiz setup allows each quiz to have a different question from a set list.
- Using questions that contain random variables such as the Arithmetic ad Significant Figures questions presents the question using different numerical values which results in unique numerical answers.
- Questions within the quiz can be randomised so students will have the same questions but in a different order.
- Answers can also be randomised within a question such as multiple choice or multiple answer.
